West Fork Fire

As of 8:00AM this morning a RED FLAG WARNING has been issued for this area. The West Fort portion of the fire grew from 3,879 acres to 12,001 yesterday. The primary direct of growth was to the NW in the Weminuche Wilderness area. Growth to the south was minimal. All structures and cabins at Born Lake were not effected by yesterday’s growth.

As of 11:00AM this morning Archuleta County Emergency Information report that the fire has now crossed the Continental Divide onto the Rio Grande National Forest. A crew from the Rio Grande Forest Service is headed there now.

As a precaution, the Big Meadows and Tucker Ponds Campgrounds are closed, as well as Forest Roads 410 and 430.

Please keep in mind the fire perimeter shown on both maps is the latest information available and does not show yesterdays growth.

Windy Pass Fire

The Windy Pass Fire had significant growth yesterday, growing from 191 acres to 709 acres.  With the fire only being 1/4 of a mile from Wolf Creek Ski Area, additional firefighters have been called in for structure protection and mitigation efforts.
